The beginning

The Open 40 that started it all

It all began with a desire to go further and faster, and we are 3+ years into the executing the project. We are almost done, but it’s a long story of a lot of team work.

The story begins in Caudan

She had been built by JMV as one of three, to form the core of a single-handed class to offer a stepping-stone to IMOCA racing. The sister-ship was sailed extensively, at least twice around the globe, by famous sailors (including Charles Caudrelier, Liz Wardley, Yvan Griboval) but ultimately the class didn’t get traction and the two unfinished boats remained unfinished, in the sailing Mecca of Northwest France.

We are based in Imperia, Italy, so after a very thorough survey and completing the purchase, the plan began to bring the hull and deck to Marine Composite and complete the boat.
